World Athletics is the international governing body for track and field, formally established in 1913 following a congress in Berlin and headquartered in Monaco. It sets the rules of the sport, recognises world records, and governs 214 member national federations. It also runs an anti-doping programme through its Athletics Integrity Unit and organises the sport's biggest events, including the World Athletics Championships, the World Indoor Championships, and the Wanda Diamond League. Its mission is to make athletics accessible to everyone, from grassroots participation through to elite competition.
